About Me:

Inspired and surrounded by a positive environment, I was able to accomplish many goals. My name is Jasmaine Calizaire, and I am a 2007 graduate of Boys and Girls High School. I have currently been accepted to York College, where I do plan to study the major biology. Yet being around unconstructive environments, I was led by the teachings of my parents to be around motivating, sanguine, optimistic individuals. Currently, I am able to fulfill accomplishments such as, being apart of several community service activities, obtaining a certificate in mentoring, becoming a role-model, completing several community projects, etc. However, over every ambition I was able to accomplish, my greatest accomplishment was forming an organization called Journey into the Light. This organization has affected my decision to attend college because I am ambitious to obtain several degrees to show my sincerity and commitment in life, and to make a positive influence and a constructive difference.
Creating this organization, Journey into the Light, is considered to be my greatest accomplishment because it has not only affected my life but also others simultaneously. The organization was inspired by a tragic event that took place in my friend’s life. This event has broadened my perspective mentality concerning youth and the death of their love ones. I learned the reason of failure, mixed emotions, alienation, etc concerning this event. Currently, this organization is being solicited to several companies, businesses, and organizations to achieve a certain amount to be affective in the life of youth that have and have not experienced this tragedy.
College has a huge role to play in my life in affect to my greatest accomplishment in creating the organization. Obtaining degrees and expanding my education does not only benefit me career wise, but will benefit others as well. Besides my desire to become an OB-GYN doctor, my career and accomplishment works around the same field, which is helping people. In college, I hope to understand the reasons for certain behaviors in people lives, emotions, and habits. Also I want to be able to understand how I may help these individuals, leading to my decision to study pre-medicine and sociology. Helping people is my passion.
As an African-American youth, I am an aspiring spokeswomen who one day looks forward to speaking at meetings, luncheons, schools etc., encouraging the youth to seek higher education and reach their goals. I aim to become a successful OB-GYN who might be able to contribute to my community. As pertaining to my career, I hope to open my own practice, a female clinic where there are several counseling sessions including: the guide to motherhood, guide through labor, and music therapy which discusses what ways music positively affects pregnancy and labor. I will also have a session for teen mothers who may seek various kinds of help.
Creating an organization and looking forward to attending college equals a successful prominent destiny. This destiny not only involves me but also the people I am helping those who have helped me and those who do look up to me. My greatest accomplishment has to do a lot with attending college and in lieu of what has just been discussed your financial assistance can help me accomplish further more goals
